Choosing a residential home - care, nursing or respite
In order to pick the right home for yourself or someone you are supporting, you need to understand your/their particular care needs. We recommend that you visit as many homes as possible so that you can compare what each home has to offer. We have created a guide and a checklist of the things you should consider.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspects all residential homes. You might want to read the CQC's reports on the homes that you are interested in. You can also contact your local Healthwatch. Healthwatch also visits care homes and collects residents' and families' feedback.
