MRANG - Merseyside Refugee & Asylum Seekers Pre & Postnatal Support Group

Description

Information, advice and support for female asylum seekers, refugees and their children.

We provide support for women refugees and asylum seekers including pre and post natal women and their babies, victims of sexual violence, trafficking, domestic slavery and human rights abuses. We so this by providing twice weekly drop-in groups.

Our drop-in project aims to provide a safe and supportive space for women and their children, where they can access peer support and develop social contacts and friendship.

We provide a warm, nutritious meal enjoyed in the company of other women and their children.

Women can access information and support such as:

  • counselling
  • pre and postnatal support
  • parental support and advice
  • clothes and toys for babies, children and women
  • structured play and learning activities for the children
  • peer support and the opportunity to develop social contacts
  • therapeutic activities such as massage and beauty therapy
  • English classes and outreach services from specialist services

We also provide casework where women can receive support on a variety of issues such as with their asylum claim, housing problems, accessing health services etc.
