Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust - Personality Disorder Services: The Rotunda Day Programme

Description

Specialist service for people who have difficulties with self destructive behaviours, forming and maintaining relationships and regulating their emotions (personality disorders).

What is a Personality Disorder?

Personality disorders are conditions in which an individual differs significantly from an average person, in terms of how they think, perceive, feel or relate to others.

Their patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving are more difficult to change and the person will have a more limited range of emotions, attitudes and behaviours with which to cope with everyday life.

This can make things difficult for the person or for other people, leaving a person with a personality disorder feeling hurt and insecure and avoiding the company of others.

The Day Programme

Group members may have a diagnosis of Personality Disorder. The service may benefit those looking for an alternative to traditional psychiatric services.

The service is a Day Therapeutic Community, which are highly structured therapy groups which aim to help people develop new ways of coping with difficult emotional and relationship issues. It runs every week.

We aim to deliver care that respects individuals, values diversity, preserves dignity and promotes recovery and inclusion. There are also entries on this directory for many of our other services.

See the leaflet at the bottom of the page for more information.
